                   What is Linocut?

Linocut is a form of printmaking involving cutting and carving out a linoleum block (solidified linseed oil, pine resin, and wood flour). I transfer or draw my image onto the block, and then I carve out whatever parts of the image I dont want to show up when I print it onto the paper. I then roll out the ink onto a flat surface to get an even coat on the brayer (like a little rolling pin), and roll the ink onto the block. The last step is carefully printing the block image onto paper. Lino cut printing is very similar to making a stamp.
